About the position:
Alderman Company is seeking an experienced WordPress Developer to join our full-service digital agency. As part of Alderman Company’s marketing group, you’ll work with our in-house teams collaborating on custom website, application, and digital marketing projects for a variety of clients.
In conjunction with our in-house teams, the Developer will collaborate with the Creative Director and Project Management team to define, design, and develop cutting-edge websites for our clients. The Developer should understand the latest industry-standard tools, WordPress architecture, and UX fundamentals, and will strive to instill and reinforce best practices across the team. Responsibilities will consist of programming, implementing, and integrating related components, including front-end initiatives, server-side development, and database integration. The Developer will lead the creation of highly-customized WordPress websites as well 3rd party plugin evaluation and implementation. Other areas of responsibility will include ensuring the accuracy of online advertising/marketing attribution, ongoing maintenance of content management system environments, and website security (including administration, maintenance, and technical support of custom websites.)

The Developer will focus on delivering projects in scope, on time, and on budget.

Core Duties and Responsibilities
• Possess expert level WordPress experience; maintain best-in-class development and technical design principles
• Support high-quality standards for coding and workflow; conduct code reviews to ensure adherence
• Drive production best practices; actively working to deliver within scope, on time, and on budget
• Drive growth and influence project success by supporting Sales teams in formalizing project requirements, scope, and deliverables; understand and guide project architecture and milestone definition
• Collaborate with key stakeholders in project planning and updates
• Maintain quality guidelines for browser and device support, uphold design fidelity standards, functionality testing, and website performance
• Closely oversee performance of critical tasks including live site migrations, site maintenance and emergency fixes
Required Technical Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or applicable professional experience
• 3+ years recent WordPress design experience, including the use of WooCommerce
• Experience manipulating and customizing WordPress themes
• Comfortable adding/troubleshooting various WordPress plugins
• Ability to work with/create hard-coded non-WordPress sites
• An understanding of modern responsive web standards required (HTML5, mobile web)
• Experience building responsive sites
• Proficiency in HTML, PHP, CSS3, and MySQL
• Server management experience with tools and processes such as cPanel, PHPMyAdmin, and DNS
• Proficiency in JavaScript Development and Libraries/jQuery
• Proficiency with the WordPress Coding Standards, approaches and common APIs
• Experience creating and managing YouTube accounts
• Strong knowledge of Social Media integration practices
• Strong knowledge of SEO principles relevant to website development
• Always working towards code optimization and performance improvements
• Passionate about writing beautiful and clean code
• Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
• Have an online portfolio of demonstrated work or verifiable links to current work
Nice To Have
• Strong Adobe CC skills
• Understanding of Custom Post Types
• Experience with a CSS preprocessor such as Sass or LESS
• Strong knowledge of CMS’s other than WordPress
• Comfortable with Google Analytics
• Understanding of iOS/Android App development
• 2+ years web application development experience
• Proven track record of always learning and growing

• Excellent communication skills, well organized with strong follow-through
• Experience working directly with customers to meet business objectives
• Ability to effectively translate business requirements into features and functional outputs
