Position: Web Designer & Developer
Brimston Agency is looking for a web designer and developer who wants to grow in HTML, CSS and JavaScript. This position is an entry-level position and requires one to three years of experience or demonstrable skills. You will have the ability to build upon existing skills and apply new concepts to over a dozen websites. Successful candidates will be detail-oriented and creative problem solvers.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Work with Digital Marketing Lead to execute new projects.
• Administer and maintain existing WordPress sites, including users, themes, plugins, and site monitoring.
• Contribute to testing, debugging, and quality control.
• Manage domain and certificate registration.
• Perform content migration and management as needed.
Qualifications
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent certification and experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve issues among core, themes, and plugins.
• Must be able to make all appointed meetings with team. (Preferred Midwest Region of US)
• Must be familiar with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop.
One or more years experience with:
• WordPress administration and maintenance.
• WordPress development of templates, template tags, and plugins.
• Fundamental control of PHP, HTML, CSS, and JS.
• Version control with Git.
• Willingness to learn and expand the possibilities of the WordPress platform.
Preferred:
• Comfortable in Unix and Linux-based environments (OS X, Ubuntu)
• Strong command of typography and graphics design.
• SASS frameworks, especially Bourbon, Neat, SUSY.
• WordPress concepts and plugins: Advanced Custom Fields and Custom Post Types.
• Experience with any of the following industry tools: WP Engine, Linode, GitHub, Pingdom, Google Analytics, Moz, Wufoo, Crazy Egg, or MailChimp.
Compensation:
Based on prior work experience, portfolio and qualifications.
