Offer : 100% Remote Front End Web Developer

DQuinn.net wants to expand its network of web designers and web developers. Whether you’re a freelancer looking for contract work or a full-timer looking for a side gig, my decade-old studio needs your help.

All our contract roles are 100% remote (work without pants!), pay competitive rates (flat fee!), and are totally non-exclusive (I don’t accept non-competes, and neither should you). I’m my own project manager and principal, and my team usually consists of a remote visual designer, other specialists, and the client. If you seem like a good fit, let’s grab a beer or coffee and then go to our respective dimly-lit caves to type away.

Engagement Terms:

1) We’ll give you PSDs that have been hand-crafted by my resident visual design partner and you’ll cut them up into functioning HTML/CSS templates; 2) You’ll be provided with a local WordPress environment to work within, as well as house development standards and a house build script that you’ll adhere to; 3) We’ll do a QA review and handoff, and then you’ll go take a nap.

As a 1099 contractor, we provide work as it becomes available. Most projects can be completed in 2 or 3 weeks, but how and when you want to tackle the work is up to you.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 3 years development experience (preferably in an agency or production environment)
  • Experience chopping up Photoshop or Sketch layouts
  • HTML5: You care about semantic markup, you use section-level headings, and the document outliner is in your toolkit
  • SASS & CSS3: You don’t rely on a CSS framework (and we don’t use one). Our methodology is somewhere between OOCSS and SMACSS. We do not like BEM or Atomic
  • Fluid, responsive design is second nature to you
  • You still test for IE9 and are comfortable crossbrowser testing on Browserstack or other simulators
  • We use regular old jQuery, written as objects. If you’re competent with jQuery and jQuery plugins, that’s all you need. We’re building brochureware, after all, so you don’t need to know any fancy frameworks
  • You can run a Gulp.js build script and Livereload
  • You know how to set up a local LAMP environment
  • You are familiar with the git workflow

Nice to Have:

  • Any PHP or WordPress experience
  • Any experience with task management (we collaborate in Asana)
  • Empathy for visual design principles and UX
  • Good communication skills

To be considered, you must live in New England and be able to meet for a physical interview. Include a link to your resume and portfolio.
